CRI's George Sickinger and Joe Schlinkert listen to the featured speaker at CRI's Corrugated Technology Summit, where leaders gathered to share the latest ideas and insights on industry technologies.

Industry leaders exchanged ideas about key issues and emerging trends at the Corrugated Technology Summit hosted by Color Resolutions International (CRI) at its Fairfield, Ohio, corporate headquarters, Aug. 19-20. Representatives from the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters, Bobst Group North America, Dupont Packaging Graphics, J.B. Machinery, KemiArt, Inc., M-real USA Corp., Praxair Surface Technologies, Inc., and Printron joined CRI officials for the two-day event.

Representatives from each of the participating companies presented a short overview of their organization, before sharing newest ideas and technologies to improve the performance, quality and economics of corrugated printing. Following each presentation, the entire group participated in an open discussion about common challenges and best practices for problem resolution. Across the board, participants are seeing more independent corrugators expanding into finer graphics to differentiate their businesses from the integrated corrugators. This movement toward enhanced graphics raises the bar for suppliers, defining new demands for technology enhancement and quality control. Other key topics included product and service innovations, effective partnering approaches, and sustainability efforts.

“We all share common customers. It just makes good business sense to also share our ideas and insights,” says George Sickinger, CRI president and ceo. “Our Corrugated Technology Summit is all about creating a forum for open, candid discussions that will lead to better partnerships and ultimately better product and service offerings.”

CRI purposely held its meeting in advance of SuperCorrExpo, where thousands of industry leaders will meet to review marketplace developments and exchange ideas on satisfying customer needs. The Technology Summit is meant to provide suppliers with an opportunity to share ideas with one another before participating in the industry-wide forum. Company officials plan to host these technology summits on an annual basis. For more information about the event, contact CRI at 800-543-1670.
